For the third tournament in a row, Freshman Dexter Coston earned top individual player honors, leading all competitors at the LifeWay Christian Invitational by answering more toss-up questions than anyone else! With an impressive 52 total questions across three games, he outscored his closest rival by 11 points among 19 teams.
Dexter's first-game total of 25 correct answers may have set a new Greenwood Quiz Bowl record and would have been enough to secure a top-ten finish on its own!
This latest achievement adds to his streak as the top large school junior high player at both the Morrilton Quiz Bowl Invitational and the Guy Fenter Co-op Tournament. 👏
Despite only having three players at the LifeWay Tournament, Greenwood managed to advance to the round of eight quarterfinals as the sixth seed before falling to third seed Woodland of Fayetteville. Other Greenwood players were eighth grader Seth Fontenot, who managed to average an all-tournament-worthy five correct toss-ups per game, and seventh grader Gage Mooney who also contributed to the team score.
