Westwood Robotics had a fantastic day at our first tournament of the season! All five our our teams showed up and showed out in both skills (driving and autonomous) and teamwork. Four of our teams made it to the finals, and our fifth team finished second in skills with dominant scores in both driving and coding. We can’t wait to see what this season holds for these amazing kids!

Some of our 3rd and 4th grade friends sang β€œThank You, Soldiers” for Greenwood High School’s Veterans Day assembly today to honor the veterans in our community! And we also ran into Greenwood’s own Miss Arkansas, Kennedy Holland, who sang a beautiful rendition of β€œGod Bless America.

First Grade is continuing our nonfiction unit this week with a focus on sunflowers. We know that sometimes authors write nonfiction texts to teach us something. This week, we learned how to grow sunflowers. We also incorporated informative/how to writing in our lesson. Students took home sunflower seeds today to plant on their own. They even wrote out their own steps to follow throughout the growing process.

This week is all about traits and adaptations in third grade FabLab! During our learning, we’ve coded, explored with augmented reality animal cards, camouflaged an invasion of lizards (they’re all over the lab!), and had fun with LEGO habitats. What a week!

Mrs. Meador's 2nd grade class has been working hard on writing paragraphs. They've learned to write a paragraph with a topic sentence, two details with explanations, and a conclusion. They've been working so diligently on this and Mrs. Meador is so proud of them for their hard work.

Today, August 15th, parents listed as the first contact in eSchool will get an email with the Arkansas Family Portal Access Codes. These codes will let families check out the results from the Arkansas Teaching, Learning, and Assessment System (ATLAS) scores for the 2024-25 assessments.

The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education has also put together a Family Toolkit on its website, packed with useful resources like videos, FAQs, and other helpful documents.

The email will be coming from DoNotReply@cambiumassessment.com, and it will look similar to the one shown below.
