Your Kiddo absolutely rocked the test today!! WE are all so proud of their attitudes and effort throughout the day. Tomorrow is another big day of testing, so please help them get rest and be ready to be their best again. After school gspire is not longer available. If students need extra help/time, before school gspire is still going through 5/17/24. Thank you again for letting us be a part of your student's educational journey.

The month of April is designated as the Month of the Military Child. The Arkansas Council for Military Children has designated April 19, 2024, as Purple Up! for Military Kids Day. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to wear purple clothing on that day. Purple indicates that all branches of the military are supported. All the service colors are represented and said to combine for the mutual benefit of all into the color purple. Purple Up!

We are thrilled to announce an exceptional educational opportunity for our students at Greenwood Junior High School. On April 8th, our school will be partaking in a solar eclipse viewing event. This rare occurrence provides an enriching opportunity for our students to witness one of nature's most captivating phenomena. Ensuring the safety of our students is our utmost priority during this event. We recognize the significance of safeguarding their eyesight and have taken all necessary precautions to have a secure viewing experience. Certified eclipse glasses, specifically designed for safe eclipse viewing, will be provided to all students by the school. These glasses effectively filter out the sun's harmful rays, allowing for direct viewing of the eclipse without risk. We extend our gratitude to the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce and Farmers Bank for generously providing these glasses to our students. We kindly request your cooperation in preparing your child for this event. Please engage in a conversation with your student regarding the importance of wearing the eclipse glasses at all times during the viewing. It is imperative that students refrain from looking at the sun without these protective glasses, as doing so can result in serious eye damage. Here are some key points to discuss with your child: The necessity of wearing the eclipse glasses throughout the entire viewing. The dangers associated with looking at the sun without proper protection, even for a brief moment. The importance of attentively following instructions provided by teachers and staff during the event. The eclipse viewing will occur during regular school hours, with supervision from our dedicated teachers and staff members. Should you have any concerns or questions regarding the event, or if you prefer that your child not participate in the eclipse viewing, please reach out to our office directly. We are committed to accommodating the needs and preferences of all our students and their families. Thank you for your cooperation and support. Sincerely, Joshua Nation Principal Greenwood Junior High School 479-996-7440

Solar Eclipse Opt Out Form
We have a lot going on this week at GJHS that we wanted you to be aware of. First off, today's track meet, 3/25/24, has been canceled. Secondly, this Friday our Student Council is hosting a coke/candy sales day, and a hat day to benefit Make-a-Wish foundation. It will be $2 to wear a hat, and snacks will be sold during advisory time. Thirdly, we have changed the way that we are doing Principal Roll and Honor Roll, which has allowed us to move the date back to April 26th. This will allow for our students to have a better opportunity to earn these awards. Please remember, the true reflection of your students effort at GJHS is their final report card. Thank you and have an amazing rest of your day.
