Congratulations to GJHS teacher, Mrs. Kelly Mizell!
Yesterday, Arvest Bank honored Mrs. Mizell during the bank’s annual “We Love Teachers” initiative, which awards area educators $500 each to help with the purchase of school supplies.
She was one of 142 teachers at K-12 public state-funded schools throughout the bank’s four-state footprint to receive the award.
“At Arvest, we believe teachers are vital to shaping the future of our communities,” said Jennifer Caldwell, Arvest Bank Community Marketing Manager. “Through their dedication, teachers help build a foundation for lifelong learning and growth, inspiring students to reach their full potential. We’re proud to honor Mrs. Mizell with this recognition, and it’s our hope this award will help contribute to a positive learning environment.”
The bank’s “We Love Teachers” initiative aims to help teachers with the purchase of school supplies. According to a 2024 Teacher Spending Survey released by AdoptAClassroom.org, teachers reported spending an average of $860 out of their own pockets for classroom supplies.
Since 2016, Arvest has donated $539,500 to local teachers throughout Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas.
Megan Keenom, Branch Sales Manager of Arvest in Greenwood was at GJHS to present Mrs. Mizell with her $500 award.

The teachers and staff at GJHS have begun collecting donations to contribute to Isaiah Arrington's Scholarship Fund and to support Kylynn Nolan's family during this time. If you would like to join us in giving, please bring any donations to the GJHS front office. Thank you for your continued support of our Bulldog Family.

We are so thankful to be a part of your student's journey this year. The school year has started off incredibly well, and we appreciate your continued support. As we look ahead to more home games this week, I wanted to remind everyone of the expectations for students during our events.
GJHS students must enter the game with a parent and are expected to remain in the stands throughout the event. Students are not permitted to bring balls into events, congregate under the stands or on the hill, and once they have entered the facility, they should not leave. It is important that students stay in the stands, where their guardian can easily see them.
On Friday Nights, Mrs. Little and I have worked to create a fun and engaging atmosphere for our students in the stands, so they can enjoy the game while cheering on our Bulldogs. Please help us maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.
Thank you, and as always—Go Bulldogs!

Students were given an order form with a selection of April Henry books available to purchase. These forms and money are due by this Friday 10/4! There are extra forms available in the Library if needed.

Mrs. Lachowsky hosted a super cool (and delicious) RTI session today! Making S'mores using solar pizza boxes!
