Our first grade class has been learning about Arctic animals. Today we did an experiment to learn how blubber is used to keep animals warm in cold climates. 💙🩶🤍

Miss Mattox’s 2nd grade students are building strong reading skills by studying nonfiction text features. Using Big Books, students identified and labeled features that help readers better understand informational text. Look at those busy readers! 📚📖

Congratulations to this weeks Student Spotlight recipients!! 💙🩶🤍

Today our staff had the BEST kind of PD! 🌿
Derek Ratchford from the Arkansas Game and Fish joined us for an Outdoor Education professional development—and it was completely hands-on! We even compared the CO₂ output of Mrs. Bailes versus an alligator 🐊😄
Turns out… teachers love hands-on learning just as much as students do!

Mrs. Sitz' and Mrs. Kirkes' 3rd & 4th grade students had fun playing pickle ball at the Special Olympics. 💙🩶🤍

Congrats and special thanks to the classes of Mrs. Tidwell, Mrs. Babb, Mrs. Bailes, Ms. Mattox, Mrs. McMahan, Mrs. King, Mrs. Kelton, Mr. Rathbun, and Mrs. Karnes. Each of these classes bought over 100 food items for our food drive or earned over $100 for our coin drive. We celebrated them with a popcorn party last Friday. Mrs. Babb's class was the overall food item winner with 260 items, and Mrs. McMahan's class raised the most with nearly $300. Keep being awesome kiddos! 🤩

Thank you for your amazing kindness and generosity!! 💙🩶🤍

Thank you to Westark Plumbing!! 💙🩶🤍

We had an amazing Shop with a Bulldog Event last month at the Greenwood Wal-Mart. Thank you to all participants and supporters! 💙🩶🤍

Today, several of our teachers attended the Fishing in the Natural State professional development at the Janet Huckabee Nature Center in partnership with the School of Conservation Leadership.
Teachers painted their own lures and learned why color and design matter when creating effective lures. They explored fish adaptations that are crucial for survival and examined macroinvertebrates to understand how they impact water quality. Participants also practiced casting techniques, knot tying, and rod-and-reel assembly.
We can’t wait to bring all of these hands-on experiences and new learning back to our students at East Pointe!
