Congratulations to the Greenwood Junior High Quiz Bowl Team for placing 4th in the 6A West Regional Quiz Bowl Tournament!
Team Members were: Ethan Shumate, Bryson Cook, Gabriel Himes, Kyndal Velosky, and Dexter Coston.
Gabe Hensley (8th Grade) competed with the Freshman Center team, who won 1st place.
Gabe was named Most Valuable Player and tied with 7th Grader Dexter Coston for the highest number of questions answered. Both answered 31 questions correctly! Awesome job!


The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to GJHS February 13th - 23rd.

They placed 1st in their division at the Regional Chess Tournament on Saturday, January 28th!
Team members included Dexter Coston, who also earned MVP, Isaac Buzbee, Brayden Bucker, Ethan Coward, Ethan Shumate, and Weston King.

Choir students are showing off the Sight Word Championship Belt!
Sight reading is the musical skill of learning a piece of music that you’ve never seen before in a short amount of time. It is a skill that each choir will be assessed upon when they attend Region Choral Performance in March.

Semester Exams will be Thursday, December 15th and Friday, December 16th.
Students who are continuously enrolled at Greenwood from the beginning of the semester have the option of being exempt from semester tests on a per class basis if they meet the following grade and attendance requirements:
Students receiving an A in the class will be allowed 4 absences per semester.
Students receiving a B in a class will be allowed 3 absences per semester.
Students with a C or D in a class will be allowed 2 absences per semester.
Students with a failing grade in a class will be required to take the semester test.
Any student who served ISS/OSS must take semester tests.


Our students have worked incredibly hard mastering skills on iXL! Today we rewarded the 7th grade with a dance/cookie party today during advisory. 7th graders mastered 3000 skills in 20 days!

Greenwood's 7th and 8th grade Quiz Bowl Team took second place at the Friends of Quiz Bowl Tournament in Cabot on Saturday.
Team members were Story Clark, Dexter Coston, Gabriel Hensley, Connor Mitchum, Ethan Shumate(not pictured), and Kyndal Velosky.

These students rocked yesterday!
They competed in the Guy Fenter Education Cooperative's first ever Rubik's Cube Speed Solving Competition! The 6th-8th grade teams took first and third place in the middle school team division!
In addition, Greenwood's students posted six of the top ten fastest average times in the individual competition with Greenwood eighth grader Krish Bastola finishing first overall. Joining Bastola in the individual top ten were 7th graders Nashton Sharum in third, Gage Diaz in fourth, and Dexter Coston in sixth, 8th grader Noah Brown in seventh, and 6th Grader Grayson Geib in ninth. The first place middle school team consisted of Bastola, Brown, Diaz, Coston, and Sharum. The third place team consisted of Geib and 7th graders Beckham Presnell and Trevor Wilbanks. Over 60 students participated in the competition from eleven different school districts.
