It is with extreme sadness that we share the news regarding the loss of one of our Bulldog family members. School Safety Officer Chris Boyd was involved in a fatal car accident Monday afternoon.
Officer Boyd (Junior), during his time with Greenwood Schools has made such positive and impactful contributions to our school community. His presence at the bus changeover every afternoon, his relationships with kids, and the connections he made with our special students are just a few examples of the things we loved about Chris. We will be forever thankful for his work and for the opportunity to know him!
Officer Boyd was a retired Corporal with the Fort Smith Police Department, where he served as a field training officer, firearms instructor, and ALERRT active shooter instructor. Before his retirement from FSPD, Mr. Boyd was the recipient of the Mayor’s Hero Award, American Red Cross Hero Award, Jaycee’s Officer of the Year, Lifesaving Award, and received a VIP Flight with the USAF Thunderbirds. Chris was also a retired team lead of the SWAT unit with the Fort Smith Police Department.
The magnitude of this loss is hard to measure. We ask that you keep the Boyd family, our School Safety team members, and his many close friends within our Greenwood community in your thoughts and prayers.
At this time, there is no further information about upcoming services or memorials, but we will share when it comes available.

Mrs. Kimberly Lowe was recently recognized as a High Impact Teacher for the Greenwood School District by the Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). According to data released by DESE, Mrs. Lowe was named a High Impact Teacher due to her students having some of the highest growth scores within the district over multiple years.
To thank Mrs. Lowe for her continued success and to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, the Secretary of Education, Jacob Oliva, came to Greenwood High School to surprise Mrs. Lowe with a gift of appreciation.
Congratulations Mrs. Lowe and Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all of our wonderful teachers throughout the Greenwood School District.

A great Sr Regional tournament today. Started off rainy and wet. Two senior teams are heading to state. The Bulldogs took 5th and 16th place out of 121 teams.
5th - Trap Happy (Cadance Norris, Cooper McCombs, Elijah Thorne, Will Rupert, and Harvey Paige).
16th - Powder Monkeys (DW Stephens, Sully Shoppach, Dacen Drennan, Tanner Miller , Blake Christiansen.)
