Why Project H.O.P.E.?

Mission Statement: Project H.O.P.E. is an inter-denominational service organization dedicated to meeting the immediate physical needs of the impoverished people while sharing with them the Good News of Jesus Christ.
HOPE Central is a full functioning base camp with accommodations for travelers (separate sleeping quarters for male and females), a common meeting/devotional area, and a dining hall.
Multi-faceted: building communities, drilling fresh water wells, medical, dental, children, pastoral training, hospital outreach, prison, agricultural and abstinence programs and projects.
Safe, organized and efficient – HOPE central hosts 500 travelers a year.
Who?
Limited amount of participants based on the capacity of Project HOPE’s available facilities including staff chaperones, senior high students and parents.
Teaming up with a group from Springfield, MO, led by Jim Massey. Jim has led numerous trips to Nicaragua and will be our team leader.
When?
One week in June, during the AAA dead week so athletes can attend.
Daily Routine
Breakfast at the HOPE Central dining hall.
Transport to the community work site on a bus.
At site have community worship and small group devotional.
Morning work: Building project – construction alongside Nicaraguans
Lunch on site
Afternoon work: participants may choose between building project and VBS work
Transport back to HOPE Central.
Dinner
Worship / Discussion / Debriefing

Site seeing at Lake Managua
Visit the original community that Project HOPE constructed.
Tour of Furia Santa (Holy Fury) program: Garden/work site/baseball and soccer
Lunch in Managua at a local restaurant
Open air market shopping – nice area with parks, street musicians, etc.
Dinner
Return to base: decisions, perspectives, pray for each other
Total Costs
Max cost is $1600 per person and includes:
$100 towards sponsoring building two homes for Nicaraguan families.
Transportation to the airport and round trip flight (cheaper flights drive the cost down)
Cost per person to Project HOPE for accommodations and food.
Worksite lunches, snacks, drinks, etc.
Travel Insurance: Covered up to $1,000,000 with a $0 deductible.
Other cost: Sponsored family.
Participants placed into partners and assigned a family. Given information on the age, sizes, and needs of the family. Then given a tub to fill with clothing, hygiene products, toys, etc.
Other cost: The only other required payment will be a $10 cash immigration tax upon entering the country and your meals at the US airports. You should bring a maximum of $100 spending money for the market and souvenirs.
All fundraising will decrease the total amount.
